Latest company news about TECPPF Color PPF Dry and Wet Application Guide

1. Dry Application Method

  • Preparation:

    • Ensure the surface is clean and free of contaminants such as dust, oil, or wax.
    • Work in a temperature-controlled environment (recommended: 18°C - 25°C) to avoid issues with film adhesion.
    • Use a heat gun to slightly warm the film for better flexibility and conformity.
  • Application Steps:

    1. Align the color PPF with the surface where it will be applied.
    2. Slowly peel back the liner to expose the adhesive side.
    3. Use a squeegee to gradually press the film onto the surface, applying even pressure to avoid air bubbles and wrinkles.
    4. Work from the center outward to ensure a smooth, bubble-free application.
    5. Once the film is in place, carefully trim the edges as needed.
    6. Post-application, use a heat gun to ensure the film adheres properly and to activate any self-healing properties.
  • Advantages:

    • Quick application.
    • Ideal for small areas or precise installations where wet application is not necessary.

2. Wet Application Method

  • Preparation:

    • Clean the application surface thoroughly.
    • Prepare a solution of water and a few drops of soap (or a designated application solution) in a spray bottle.
    • Ensure the working area is free of direct sunlight and dust.
  • Application Steps:

    1. Spray the soap solution generously on both the surface and the adhesive side of the color PPF.
    2. Position the film on the surface, and adjust it as needed since the wet application allows more flexibility for alignment.
    3. Use a squeegee to push out the water and air bubbles from under the film, starting from the center and working toward the edges.
    4. For curved or complex surfaces, heat the film slightly with a heat gun for better conformability.
    5. Allow the film to dry for 24-48 hours for complete adhesion, trimming any excess film as needed after drying.
  • Advantages:

    • Easier repositioning during installation.
    • Ideal for larger or more complex areas where precision is crucial.

3. Post-Application Care:

  • Allow the film to cure for at least 48 hours before washing the vehicle.
  • Avoid using high-pressure water or abrasive cleaning tools on the freshly applied film.
  • For self-healing films, mild heat can be applied to restore the surface from light scratches.

Both methods have their advantages, and the choice between dry and wet application depends on the specific vehicle area, installer preference, and environmental conditions.
